Situation
OFS, is a newly formed organisation born out of the pre-existing HEFCE, responsible for the investment of public funds to promote excellence and innovation in research, teaching and knowledge exchange in universities and colleges in England and OFFA, the Office for Fair Access. During 2017-2018 the organisation underwent restructure as its duties of two organisations were brought under one banner.
Task
We were approached as an external organisation to provide resilience training to support staff as they went through the process of change. This was a period of extreme uncertainty and loss for many, as their jobs, roles and departments either changed dramatically or were discontinued.
Action
We provided resilience training throughout the process of change, initially working with HEFCE staff and latterly with staff from the newly established Office for Students. Over a period of 7 months we provided 9 Essential Resilience workshops, which were open for all staff to attend.
Result
The workshops were extremely well attended and participants reported experiencing significant benefits to resilience and wellbeing as a result. Participants who have stayed in touch tell us that they are still using the skills 2 or more years later.
